Start with the sea and the city centre

Give the Sea Garden a generous part of your first day rather than treating it as a shortcut to the beach. Continue into the pedestrian centre for a meal, then decide whether you want an indoor visit or more time outdoors.

If swimming is the main reason for the trip, compare a central Varna stay with a resort outside town. Neither is automatically the better value. Count the journeys, room facilities and beach services you will actually use.

Two different museum choices

The Regional History Museum lists €4 adult admission to the main Roman Thermae. The Archaeological Museum costs €10 and suits a longer visit to the collections. These are separate tickets and separate buildings.

The Small Roman Thermae are closed to visitors. That does not mean the main baths are closed. Buy admission at the museum's own counter; the institution says it does not sell entrance tickets through online platforms.

Arrive at the right part of Varna

Airport bus 409 leaves from outside Terminal 2 Arrivals. The airport describes a journey of under 20 minutes to the centre and about 50 minutes to Golden Sands. Treat those as travel estimates, with waiting and the final walk added.

Check the fare for your destination when boarding. Do not assume a short city journey and a ride to the resort have the same ticket. For a late flight, look at the next available bus before deciding between public transport and an airport taxi.

The railway station and the intercity bus station are different arrival points. Long-distance coaches commonly use the station on Vladislav Varnenchik Boulevard, so leave time to reach a waterfront room.

Continue along the coast or back to Sofia

The Varna–Burgas coach is a practical way to change coastal bases. The route follows the coast region but does not behave like a city bus: book the departure and check where you arrive.

For Sofia, compare a long daytime train, a sleeper and a flight. A bed on an overnight train requires its own reservation, and a short flight still needs airport time at both ends. Our Sofia–Varna guide explains those choices; use the reverse direction when buying your return.

Keep the daily plan flexible

Use a museum as the rain option and keep beach time loose. Replace the example room allowance with a quote for your actual summer dates. Add any lounger, umbrella or excursion you choose, rather than assuming it is covered by a general sightseeing allowance.
