Start with anything that could stop the trip or make the first night difficult. A confirmed room is less useful if you cannot reach it after the last bus, or if its check-in desk closes before your flight lands.
Sort the documents first
Check the entry rules for your passport, destination and any transit country with the relevant government. A stay calculator helps count dates; it does not decide whether you can enter. Keep booking details available offline and make sure every traveller has the documents they need.
Price the journey to your door
Compare the flight or train with bags, seat choices, airport travel and the final local connection included. Save a second arrival option in case the first service has finished. For a late flight, ask the accommodation how to get in before you book.
Keep the small essentials together
- Save tickets, the accommodation address and a working contact number on your phone.
- Read cancellation deadlines in the booking’s local time.
- Check your bank card’s foreign-use charges and your phone plan’s roaming coverage.
- Ask for travel assistance early if you need it, including help at connections.
