You can enjoy Cannes with a walk along the Croisette, a climb through Le Suquet and time on a public beach. Forville is useful for food, though market works have moved some traders nearby. Hotel rates during major events matter much more to the bill than the seaside walk.

Find the food stalls during the Forville works
The tourism office’s Forville page gives the practical arrangement during renovation: producers and fishermen are in the hall on Allées de la Liberté, opposite the bandstand, while other sellers remain along the eastern side of Carreau Forville. Food-market days are Tuesday to Sunday, from 7am to 1pm; Monday is for second-hand goods.
Buy a small lunch there and continue towards the old harbour. The climb into Le Suquet works better before a large meal or with a pause along the way. This is a suggested route, so shorten it if you prefer more time at the beach.
Keep a beach day simple
The official Cannes map distinguishes the beach areas and identifies the Midi beaches as mostly public, with some private sections. Choose the public area for a towel-and-picnic day. Pay for a private bed only if that comfort is part of the experience you want.
If you add an island trip, settle the return sailing before leaving the mainland and bring what you need for the walk. Treat it as a separate outing rather than something to squeeze between lunch and an early train.

Where to Stay
For a car-free visit, choose between the main station and the centre, or near Le Suquet if you do not mind the slopes. A room farther along the coast needs a realistic plan for getting back after dinner.
Getting Around
Use the main Cannes station for a central arrival, then walk between the shopping streets, old harbour and Le Suquet. For a train excursion, read the exact station rather than confusing Cannes with Cannes-la-Bocca.
Eating for Less
Forville’s food market runs Tuesday to Sunday, usually 7am to 1pm. During the renovation, producers and fishermen use the hall on Allées de la Liberté opposite the bandstand; some other sellers remain by Carreau Forville. Monday is the flea-market day.
Worth Paying For
A boat trip to one of the Lérins islands is worth considering if you want an outing away from the town. Choose the island and book the return arrangement, rather than assuming every ferry visits both islands.
Skip / Save Your Money
The Midi beaches include public sections. Bring your own towel for a beach afternoon, then walk up through Le Suquet for a different view of Cannes without booking a sightseeing tour.
