Plan by neighbourhood and elevation
Keep Abanotubani, the old-town lanes and the river area together. Add one bath, museum or fortress viewpoint rather than trying to reach every hillside. Use another day for Rustaveli Avenue, museums and a different residential neighbourhood. The city is walkable in sections, but steep streets and summer heat make repeated crossings tiring.
The old town suits a first visit but can involve slopes, noise and difficult vehicle access. Areas near Rustaveli or another useful metro station simplify transport. Check the route from the railway station, airport and the Didube departure area before choosing a room.
Use the metro for distance and walk within each area
The metro links useful parts of the city, while buses and taxis cover gaps. Confirm the payment product and last part of the route locally. A cable car, funicular and ordinary bus are separate products. For taxis, use a clear app or agreed method rather than an unmarked offer.
Give each outward journey its own day
Stepantsminda uses the Georgian Military Highway and depends on road and weather conditions. Kutaisi and Batumi can use rail or road, but the exact station matters. The Georgian Railway should be checked for the travel day.
Keep one flexible block for demonstrations, weather or a delayed mountain return. Add baths, airport transport, intercity tickets and private drivers separately to the city budget.
