Start with town geography

Corfu Town, the airport and the ferry port are close enough to connect by city transport, but they are not the same arrival point. For a short stay, choose a room around the walks and bus stops you will use. An old-town address can mean carrying bags through narrow lanes after the vehicle stops.

Keep the first afternoon flexible. A walk through the centre and a meal near the room work well after a flight or ferry. Check the approach to the Old Fortress before committing to a visit if you have difficulty with slopes or steps.

Use bus 15 for the airport and port

The city operator's route list shows line 15 linking the airport, the Green Bus station, San Rocco and the port. The current Greek ticket table puts airport–San Rocco in Zone A at €1.30 for the ordinary ticket. Buy the appropriate ticket before boarding where possible and confirm any onboard surcharge.

Use the stop closest to your actual address, rather than staying on until the last stop by habit. The Green Bus station serves trips across the island; it is different from the city departure points around San Rocco.

Build a beach day around its return

A town base lets you choose an island outing when the weather is suitable. Find the bus home before heading to the beach, and check how far the stop is from the place you intend to swim. A village name on a timetable does not promise a beachfront drop-off.

If the bus leaves too little usable time, compare a different beach, an organised excursion or a rental for that one day. You do not need a car for the whole stay just because one outing is awkward by public transport.

Keep travel documents ready and allow for immigration checks before the bus or transfer to your room. An island bus, domestic ferry ticket or hotel reservation does not establish permission to enter Greece. Check the official rules for your passport before booking.

For a town day, combine one paid fortress visit with unhurried time in the lanes and along the waterfront. The budget below leaves the choices adjustable, including whether you share a room or pay for it alone.
