Find the right arrival point

Trains from Dublin Heuston arrive at Galway Ceannt, beside Eyre Square. Many express coaches use the Coach Station on Fairgreen Road. Both are central, but they are not the same boarding point. Save the actual stop on your return booking.

For a room in Salthill, add the final bus, taxi or longer walk before comparing it with a central stay. The Westend can suit evenings near its cafés and pubs; check bedroom noise and late arrival arrangements.

Give Galway a day of its own

Walk through the central streets towards the Spanish Arch and the Long Walk, leaving time to stop beside the river mouth. The national tourism guide places the city museum near the Arch, which makes it an easy indoor option to consider.

Salthill is a separate promenade outing rather than a tiny extension to every central walk. Check the weather and the return journey if you continue farther along the coast. Look at the menu before choosing a pub, and check its music programme and kitchen hours.

Check the Cliffs access before leaving

The Cliffs of Moher coastal-walk notice currently closes the southern route from Liscannor and Hags Head. From Doolin, the northern walk reaches the stated turnaround at Surfers Path; it does not continue through to the visitor experience.

Use the open visitor routes and obey signs. Do not bypass barriers along the road or cliff edge. For a public-bus outing, check the service to the visitor stop and the return before travelling. A tour may be easier if you want several Burren stops, but compare the time at the Cliffs and the admission included.

A ferry ticket needs a port transfer

For Inis Mór sailings from Rossaveel, Aran Island Ferries offers a connecting Galway shuttle that needs advance booking. The published outline is about 50 minutes on the bus plus about 40 minutes sailing, with boarding time additional. Rossaveel is not Galway city harbour.

Confirm the correct island, return sailing and how you will move around after landing. A bicycle is a choice, not a requirement; wind, traffic and your comfort matter. Weather can affect sailings, so leave room before an essential onward departure.

If continuing to Killarney, search the full journey. The current Citylink 251 runs towards Limerick and Cork, not a direct Galway–Killarney service. A change in Limerick or a rail connection needs its own timing and stop check. See the Ireland guide before joining those parts of the trip.
