Liepāja suits a few days by the sea with a separate outing to Karosta. Keep the central market, park and beach together, then allow more time for the former military port district.

Keep the first day around the centre
Start with the streets around Rose Square, then make time for the market area and a meal before walking towards Seaside Park. The beach is a good place to leave an open hour in the plan. Wind can change how long you want to stay, so keep a café or indoor visit as an easy alternative.
Choose your room by the walks you expect to make after dinner. A location between the centre and park avoids repeatedly crossing town, while a station-side room may suit an early departure better.
Give Karosta its own half-day or longer
The former military port district lies away from the central beach. Choose the particular sites you want to see and work out the local bus route before starting. Several pins on a map do not mean several places can be visited on foot in one short stop.
The prison visitor information describes guided access. Check the language, duration and current ticket, and distinguish a historical tour from the more intense activities. If those do not suit your group, choose a different part of the district.
Use the city ticket that fits your journeys
The local transport guide lists a €1 app time ticket and a €3 app day ticket. The time ticket allows validation on further vehicles within 40 minutes and lasts to the end of the final registered journey. Driver tickets are a different product at €1.50, paid by bank card.
Read the stop and direction before boarding. A day ticket can be convenient on a day with several rides, but it is not automatically cheaper if you mainly walk.
Stay overnight instead of rushing back
Coaches from Riga take roughly three to three and a half hours. Rail also connects the cities daily; check the actual timetable, because a late outward train or early return can shape the whole visit.
The coach terminal is at Rīgas iela 71. Allow the last journey from there to your accommodation. With two or three nights, you can keep a beach day flexible and visit Karosta without watching the clock all afternoon.

Compare the market and nearby cafés for lunch, checking portions and closing times. Buy supplies before a longer Karosta outing rather than assuming food is available at every stop.
