Build a day around two areas
Start around Stary Rynek, the Old Market Square. The town-hall goats appear at noon and 3 pm, according to Visit Poznań. Pick one show and keep the rest of the morning loose; there is no need to wait in the square for hours.
After lunch, head towards Cathedral Island and Śródka. These make a different afternoon from the market-square streets. With a second day, add Jeżyce, a museum or a walk chosen for the weather. This is a useful stop between larger cities without pretending that every visitor needs a packed three-day checklist.
Use Brama Poznania to understand the island
Brama Poznania lists a regular ticket at 35 PLN. Choose it if you want context for Cathedral Island, then leave time to explore the area itself. The exhibition is not a substitute for walking outside.
If steps or uneven ground affect your plans, read the access information first. In particular, the roof terrace uses stairs. Do not judge the accessibility of the whole outing from a photograph of the modern entrance.
Match the ticket to the ride
The ZTM tariff includes a full-price 15-minute ticket at 5 PLN. That is the shortest time allowance, not a promise that every central trip fits inside it. Check the route, waiting and transfer needs before selecting a product.
Airport bus 159 connects Ławica with Poznań Główny. Use the current operator timetable for your date and choose sufficient ticket validity. On a rail arrival, confirm whether your ticket names Główny or another station before planning the final tram.
Spend time on lunch, not just the famous pastry
A St Martin's croissant is a useful local food to try, but compare the size and displayed price before ordering several. Its filling includes white poppy seeds and may contain nuts; ask about ingredients if that matters to you. Leave room for an ordinary lunch rather than treating a pastry stop as the whole food plan.
For accommodation, compare the same dates and number of guests, including cleaning and breakfast. Trade fairs and other events can change what is available. The Warsaw to Poznań route helps with the next leg; add that ticket separately to your daily allowance.
Where to Stay
Stay near the Old Town for central sightseeing, or consider Jeżyce if its cafés and tram connections fit your plans. Check the journey from Poznań Główny rather than judging by the district name alone.
Getting Around
Walk the central areas and use trams for the gaps. The shortest full-price ticket covers 15 minutes and costs 5 PLN; choose a longer ticket when your journey needs it.
Eating for Less
Try a St Martin's croissant as a shared snack if its size suits you. It contains white poppy-seed filling; check ingredients for allergies rather than assuming it is a plain breakfast pastry.
Worth Paying For
Brama Poznania is useful for understanding Cathedral Island. Standard admission is 35 PLN; allow time for the exhibition and a walk outside.
