Give each part of the city its own time

Start with Castle Square, the Old Town streets and a walk along Krakowskie Przedmieście. That makes a manageable first outing after arrival. Leave the longer journey to Łazienki for another morning, when you can enjoy the gardens without watching the clock for a museum booking.

For three days, a useful pattern is the Old Town and river, one substantial history museum, then Łazienki with a relaxed lunch. These are suggested groups of places, not a race through every major sight. In rain, move the museum day forward and keep the outdoor blocks flexible.

Choose a room by its connections

Śródmieście works well if you will use several railway or metro journeys. For an Old Town stay, look closely at the final walk from the stop, steps and the property's lift arrangements. If you stay across the river in Praga, check the evening return to your exact address rather than treating the whole district as equally connected.

Compare the complete room price for your dates. A lower nightly amount can lose its appeal if breakfast, cleaning and repeated taxis are extra.

Arrive at the right Warsaw station

Long-distance tickets may name Centralna, Zachodnia or Wschodnia. These are separate stations. Save the one on your ticket and leave time to find the platform; do not head to Centralna simply because it sounds like the main station.

At Chopin Airport, follow the signs to the railway station. SKM and the KM airport service link the airport with Warsaw, but the central stop depends on the train. The journey is longer than 20 minutes, so a 20-minute ticket is too short. A full-price 75-minute Zone 1 WTP ticket is 4.40 PLN. The SKM ticket guide explains the airport-specific acceptance rules. Pick a history visit you can absorb

POLIN explores Jewish history over a much longer period than the Second World War. Its standard core-exhibition ticket is 45 PLN. The Warsaw Rising Museum focuses on the 1944 uprising and lists a regular ticket at 35 PLN. Both close on Tuesdays and offer free admission on Thursdays under their own ticket arrangements. Choose the visit first, then see whether the free day fits; it can be busier.

For a gentler afternoon, the Łazienki gardens are free to enter. Museum interiors have separate visiting rules. A park walk and a palace visit are different plans.

Make meals and evenings easy
