The bus journey
Board an uphill line 21 bus at Triesenberg Dorfzentrum that continues to Malbun. The through journey to Malbun Zentrum takes about 17 minutes, before any walk at either end.

The full-price adult single for this journey is CHF 4. A day ticket for the same zones is CHF 7; compare that with separate singles if you are returning. If you are adding other parts of Liechtenstein, the CHF 9 network day ticket may be useful. A valid Swiss Travel Pass is accepted on LIEmobil buses. Arriving at the right stop
Check the destination display. Some line 21 departures finish at Triesenberg Guferwald and will not take you through to Malbun. Malbun Zentrum is the stop the lift operator recommends for the Sareis base.
Leave time for the visit and return
For a short outing, choose a village visit or a return chairlift ride when it is operating. A mountain circuit needs its own time and preparation. Save a return bus before setting out, and leave room for a slower walk back.
