Choose speed or the longer scenic route
The base tunnel spends much of the Alpine crossing underground. A journey using the older mountain railway is a different, longer itinerary and may need changes. Do not expect the two choices to share a duration or ticket routing.
Arrange arrival before relying on the guest card
Lugano station is above the centre. Check the funicular or bus to your room. The Ticino Ticket normally starts at accommodation check-in, so do not assume it pays for this arrival journey or the intercity ticket from Zurich.
