Marseille daily costs and planning for the Calanques
Plan a Marseille city day and a separate Calanques outing, with clear budget assumptions and current access rules.
Marseille gives you several different kinds of day: a waterfront walk, a museum visit, a beach afternoon or a trip towards the Calanques. They do not all cost the same, and a low daily average should not hide the price of the one excursion you really want.
Start with a city-day budget
This is an illustrative allowance for one person sharing a €100 room with another adult. The room assumption includes mandatory charges; food and admission figures are not quoted prices.

Check RTM’s current fares for the ticket that fits your journeys. Airport transfers, regional rail and boat excursions should be priced separately.
A waterfront restaurant meal can change the total quickly. Read the full menu, particularly when fish is priced by weight or a dish requires a minimum number of diners.
Plan a walk before adding a cruise
A day around the Vieux-Port and Le Panier can include plenty of time outside paid attractions. Decide which museum or interior you want to visit, rather than adding an admission charge to every stop.
The Marseille tourist office provides current attraction and neighbourhood information. Check the route back to your accommodation for the evening you have planned.
The Calanques need an access check
Sugiton and Pierres Tombées require a free reservation on specified busy-season dates. The national park’s 2026 notice includes selected September weekends as well as the main summer period.
A reservation does not override a fire-risk closure. Consult the park’s access guidance for the next day’s conditions before setting out.
Check the walking route, distance, heat and water you need. A beach photograph does not show the effort of reaching it. Keep a city alternative for a closed or unsuitable day.
If choosing a boat trip, confirm departure port, route, duration and whether swimming is included. Compare the actual product and weather policy, not simply the lowest advertised starting price.
