Know which Rubens visit is open
The Rubenshuis restoration notice says the historic house will reopen in 2030 at the earliest. You can still visit the Rubens Experience and garden, with an entrance at Hopland 13. They share one ticket; the digital experience is roughly a half-hour visit. The site closes on Wednesdays.
That makes it a useful part of a central day, but not a replacement for a tour of the historic rooms. If those rooms were your main reason for coming, choose a different art collection for the larger part of your day and treat the garden as an optional stop.
A city view without a museum ticket
At the MAS, the escalator boulevard leads up towards the rooftop panorama. The boulevard and view are free. You can enjoy the building and dockside setting without paying for an exhibition you did not plan to see.
A suggested route pairs the old centre with the docks, leaving the station-side streets for arrival or departure. Keep lunch simple on a busy walking day, and put any longer restaurant meal after the booked visit so a slow service does not turn into a missed slot.

Where to Stay
A room between Antwerpen-Centraal and the old centre works well for a first stay. Choose the dock area if you prefer to base evenings there, but include the trip back from the station and the museums on your list.
Getting Around
Group the central streets and Rubens site on one walk, then make the MAS and docks another part of the day. Local De Lijn transport can link longer gaps. An urban ticket is separate from the SNCB train to another Belgian city.
Eating for Less
Use a bakery or sandwich shop along your route from the station for a quick lunch, then reserve the restaurant budget for a meal you want to linger over. Ask for the takeaway and eat-in price if both are offered, and include drinks in the comparison.
Worth Paying For
The Rubens Experience and garden share one ticket. The digital experience takes about half an hour, so it suits a shorter art stop, followed by time outside. The current visitor entrance is at Hopland 13.
Skip / Save Your Money
The MAS boulevard and rooftop panorama are free. Use them for the view over the city and docks, then buy an exhibition ticket only if the subject interests you.
