Zadar is a good place to slow down between longer coastal journeys. Its old town fits a day of walking, markets and the waterfront, while another day gives you space for a beach or a carefully planned outing. The Sea Organ is part of the public seafront, so a good evening here need not cost much.

A simple old-town day
Cross onto the peninsula and visit the market first, while it still works as a place to shop. Continue through the lanes towards the Forum, then pause before deciding on a church, tower or museum. Keep the later part of the day for the waterfront rather than walking back and forth for sunset.
The Pijaca and fish market make a useful food stop. Buy picnic ingredients in quantities you can carry and keep cool. With a kitchen, shopping for dinner can save more than replacing every meal with a bakery snack.
At the Sea Organ, take time to sit and listen. The Greeting to the Sun is nearby and becomes part of the evening visit. Both are public waterfront installations; you do not need a boat ticket to enjoy this side of Zadar. Zadar visitor information.
Know your port and bus station
Gaženica handles many car ferries, while some passenger services use the city harbour. The main bus station is a third location. Read the exact place on your booking and include local travel, particularly when arriving with bags.
The airport bus is operated by Liburnija. The single fare is €5, including luggage, with 90 minutes of validity on the city network. Check the airport timetable for your flight and the direction of travel rather than assuming a bus every 20 minutes. Airport bus and timetable.
Leave the park for a separate day
Plitvice needs a matched bus and park-entry plan. Choose your park entrance, allow for the walk back to the coach stop and book the onward journey before you go. A later arrival makes a shorter park programme more sensible.
If the connection would give you too little time, spend that day in Zadar and add an overnight near the park on your way inland. A beach break or an indoor museum is also a reasonable choice when the weather spoils a boat plan.

Stay on the peninsula for short walks after dinner, or compare rooms across the footbridge in Voštarnica. Borik suits a beach-focused stay but adds travel to the old town. A room by the main bus station is useful for an early coach; check the walk or city bus for sightseeing.
Getting Around
The old-town peninsula is easy to explore on foot. Gaženica ferry port, the main bus station and the old-town harbour are different places. Match your ferry ticket to its port before choosing a city bus or taxi.

A tower or museum that adds something to your old-town day. For a national-park trip, pay for a realistic amount of time there, including the return journey.

A paid sunset cruise if what you want is an evening by the Sea Organ. You can walk the waterfront and see the Greeting to the Sun from the public promenade.
Common Tourist Traps & Money Mistakes
A boat trip advertised from Zadar may depart at Gaženica, outside the old town. Check pickup, park admission and the return time before comparing excursion prices. Do not buy a long outing solely because its headline price looks low.
