Olomouc has squares, fountains, churches and parks within a manageable city walk. The Holy Trinity Column is under restoration through the end of 2026, but the rest of the centre still makes a worthwhile visit. Add a museum if you have more than an afternoon.

Start with a simple town walk
Our suggested first route runs from Horní náměstí to Dolní náměstí, then towards the cathedral quarter. Keep a café or museum as the halfway pause. If you stay overnight, the next morning can be a shorter walk in the parks instead of another list of major attractions.
The city's UNESCO page says the Holy Trinity Column is being restored through the end of 2026. Come for the squares and the town as a whole; leave a clear photograph of the finished monument for a later visit.
Buy the right amount of transport
The transport operator's visitor advice lists a 25 CZK adult single and a 90 CZK 24-hour ticket. If your only rides are from the station and back, two singles total 50 CZK. A fourth separate 25 CZK journey would bring the total to 100 CZK, making the day ticket cheaper.
Ticket media have different conditions. The paper single lasts 40 minutes on working days or 60 minutes at weekends and public holidays. Keep the ticket valid for the full journey, including any change of vehicle.
A two-day card needs a two-day plan
The Olomouc region Card lists an adult 48-hour card at 240 CZK. Its visitor FAQ explains the consecutive-hour validity and transport benefit. A card started on Friday afternoon runs into Sunday afternoon, which can suit a short weekend.
List the included museums you would actually visit and their opening days. If the plan is only the squares and two tram rides, keep the money for lunch. For a fuller museum visit, the card can be useful.
Where to Stay
Choose a room near Horní náměstí or Dolní náměstí for an evening in the historic centre. Staying by the main railway station is useful for an early departure, but it puts the old town farther from your door. Decide which end of the day matters more.
Getting Around
An ordinary adult single ticket costs 25 CZK and a 24-hour ticket costs 90 CZK. Two separate singles cost 50 CZK; four cost 100 CZK. For a station transfer and a walking day, singles are the sensible starting choice.
Eating for Less
Use a daily-menu lunch around the central squares as the main meal, then keep dinner smaller if that suits you. Olomoucké tvarůžky are a local strong-smelling cheese to try in a small serving; order a taste before buying enough for a picnic.
Worth Paying For
For several paid visits over two days, look at the 240 CZK adult, 48-hour Olomouc region Card. It includes participating admissions and Olomouc public transport. Select the venues from its current list first, especially if your visit falls on a museum closing day.
Skip / Save Your Money
For just the squares, parks and one return station journey, the region card may buy more than you need. Start with ordinary transport tickets and add a museum individually if you decide to go inside.
