Leave time for the hill and the museum
The sanctuary is spread across a slope. A visit involves more than walking from the coach stop to an entrance, particularly if you want to continue to the higher parts. Wear shoes with grip, bring water and choose a cooler time when the forecast is hot.
The official Delphi ticket is €20 for an ordinary adult and includes the archaeological site and museum. Plan both around the day's opening hours. The museum is useful before or after the ruins; it should not become a rushed last ten minutes simply because the outdoor visit took longer than expected.
Decide whether to sleep in Delphi
An overnight stay gives you room for the visit and a relaxed village meal. A day trip from Athens can also work, but the coach timetable defines how much time you have. Compare the return departure with the closing time and your own walking pace before booking.
For a room, ask where the vehicle stops and how many steps remain. Check whether the reception will hold bags after checkout. Avoid carrying a full suitcase through an archaeological visit because the room was booked only on its view.
Athens and Meteora need different travel plans
Use KTEL Fokidas for Athens services and the precise departure details. Delphi's agency is on Apollonos Street; in Athens, the relevant coach arrangements use the Liosion area. Confirm the stop shown on your booking rather than relying on a saved pin for another bus company.
For Meteora, KTEL Trikala's published connection runs from Delphi towards Trikala via Lamia on weekdays. You still need the onward Kalambaka leg. There is no direct train from Delphi, and a weekday listing does not promise a weekend departure.

Keep the rest of the day light
After the site and museum, leave space for lunch and a short walk in the settlement. Nearby remains can have separate access restrictions; follow the current signs instead of treating every marked ruin as an open, free attraction. Spend the spare time where you are, particularly before an early coach the next morning.
