Decide whether evenings or beach time come first
Staying in Chora makes it easier to walk back after dinner. A beach-area room can save repeated journeys if you expect to spend most days by the sea. Neither is automatically better value: compare the room, bus or taxi trips and the opening dates of places you want to use.
Check the road between the accommodation and the bus stop. A short map distance may have little space for walking. In town, ask whether music from nearby venues reaches the room and how many steps remain after the vehicle drop-off.
Use Tourlos and the Old Port correctly
Your ferry confirmation tells you where the ship docks. Tourlos is the New Port, outside the main town centre. Mykonos SeaBus connects it with the Old Port and Chora for €2.50 per journey during its operating season. Allow roughly 10–15 minutes on the boat, plus the wait and walk to the correct berth.
The official bus site lists airport connections from Fabrika and the New Port. Use the current departure information for your travel day. Fabrika is not the same stop as the Old Port bus area, so check the departure point before walking across town with bags.
Price Delos as a complete outing
Delos Tours lists a €25 adult return boat-only ticket. Delos site and museum admission is €20 separately, making €45 before reaching the departure pier, food or a guide. A guided package is a different purchase; read what it includes before adding another ticket.
The Delos boats leave from the Old Port's Deliana pier. Agree on the return sailing before walking into the ruins, and take water and sun protection. This is a substantial archaeological outing, not a short beach shuttle. On a day with unsuitable sea conditions, keep a flexible town plan instead.
Spend on one thing you will enjoy
If a beach club or a waterfront dinner is a priority, choose it deliberately and leave the rest of the day simpler. Ask whether a quoted beach price covers one lounger or a pair, and whether there is a separate minimum spend. You can enjoy the island without repeating that purchase every day.
For onward travel, search the actual Santorini connection in your direction and on your date. A seasonal route map is useful for planning, but it is not proof of a daily sailing.

Delos boat and site admission
€45.00Booking and rates: The example combines a €25 return boat ticket from Delos Tours with €20 site admission. It is not a combined ticket or a guided-tour price. Confirm the boat departure from the Old Port and the return sailing before boarding.
Ways to save: Boat travel and site concessions have separate rules. Even a free site ticket does not make the boat crossing free.

Chora suits evenings on foot, while a beach base suits time close to the water. Check the last bus, road walking and night noise before choosing a cheaper room outside town.
Getting Around
Fabrika and the Old Port are different bus areas. Ferries commonly use Tourlos New Port; the SeaBus links it with town when operating. Check the stop for the specific beach or airport service.

Price for your journeyThe airport bus serves Fabrika in Mykonos Town. The operator timetable valid from 12 October 2026 lists hourly airport departures from 09:15 to 21:15; check the current board for your travel date. The timetable gives departure times rather than paired town arrival times, so allow separately for the ride, waiting and final walk. The New Port connection has its own timetable.

Mykonos SeaBus (SeaBus Boat Shuttle)
€2.50The SeaBus links Tourlos New Port with the Old Port side of Mykonos Town. The operator advertises a half-hourly service from April to October. Allow about 10–15 minutes aboard and confirm the last boat. A €2.50 ticket covers one journey; Delos boats are a separate service.

Read the menu before settling at a waterfront table. A bakery or simple takeaway can cover one meal, leaving room for a sit-down dinner without relying on an unrealistic daily food figure.
Worth Paying For
Delos is a worthwhile day choice if archaeology interests you. Confirm the return boat before entering the site and allow for heat and exposed walking.
Skip / Save Your Money
Skip a daily rental if you mainly want Chora and one bus-served beach. Compare the transport cost for those actual outings before paying for a vehicle for the whole stay.
