Nida is for a slower stay on the Curonian Spit, with lagoon walks, dunes and trips to the Baltic beach. Two or three nights work better than racing down from Klaipėda for a photograph and turning straight back.

Decide whether this is a day trip or a stay
Nida is near the southern end of Lithuania's Curonian Spit. The lagoon-side village, dune viewpoints and Baltic beach belong to the same destination, but they are not one small cluster beside the bus stop. A stay of two or three nights gives you time to spread the walks across different weather.
If visiting from Klaipėda for a day, choose one main outing and have lunch before the return journey. The Klaipėda to Nida route includes a ferry-and-bus option as well as advice on checking through-coaches.
Understand the two-ticket journey
For the usual foot-passenger route, take the Old Ferry to Smiltynė and continue by local bus. The published bus fare is €8 each way. The pedestrian ferry ticket is €1.70 return, making €17.70 for one person's return combination. Do not buy or budget for two return ferry tickets.
The bus journey from Smiltynė takes around an hour, with waiting and the crossing on top. Check both directions for your date; the return bus can take longer and seasonal schedules change. A through-coach uses a different ticket, so compare its complete price rather than adding the same components again.
Keep dune walks to the marked routes
Use the Parnidis area for a dune outing from Nida and follow the marked paths and signs. Sand, slopes and wind make progress different from a flat city walk. Carry water, wear shoes you can walk in and turn back while you still have a comfortable margin of daylight.
The national park distinguishes the Parnidis landscape from the Nagliai reserve farther north. They are not interchangeable names for one attraction. A visit to Nagliai needs its own journey and current access arrangements, so do not add it as a casual stop without checking transport.
Choose your waterfront carefully
Nida's village waterfront faces the lagoon. The Baltic shore lies across the spit. Before booking, compare the walks to the bus station, food shops and the beach you want to use. With luggage or young children, an easy arrival can matter more than a room described simply as close to the water.
In a self-catering stay, check the cooking facilities and full price, including cleaning and any local charge. Outside the main season, confirm meal options near the property. A quiet evening is less relaxing if you discover too late that your planned restaurant is closed.
Bring a car only if it helps the whole trip
A car can help with several stops, but it adds a vehicle ferry fare, the separate Neringa entry charge and parking. For a standard passenger car, the municipal entry charge is €50 from 20 June to 20 August and €10 for the rest of the year. Other vehicle types and exemptions have different rules. Compare those costs with bus tickets for your actual group. For a stay mostly spent walking in Nida, you may pay to transport and park a car that you hardly use.
The adjustable budgets below cover chosen daily allowances. Add the arrival journey separately, and replace the accommodation figure with a real booking total. Summer weekends can produce very different options from a midweek stay in the shoulder season.

Choose the lagoon-side centre for restaurants, the bus station and evening walks. The Baltic beach is on the other side of the spit, so check the route on a map rather than assuming a waterfront room faces the sea.
🚇 Getting Around
Walk within the village and use the Smiltynė bus for the longer journey north. The ferry crosses only to Smiltynė; the bus continues along the spit to Nida.

Check where you can eat near your room, particularly outside summer. Carry water and a snack for longer walks, and confirm kitchen facilities if self-catering is part of your budget.
