The useful visitor base is the Orheiul Vechi cultural landscape around Butuceni and Trebujeni, not simply modern Orhei town. Cave monasteries, river views and village guesthouses make this either a full day from Chișinău or a quiet overnight.

Decide whether you mean Orhei town or Orheiul Vechi
Most visitors are planning for the Orheiul Vechi cultural landscape and the villages of Butuceni or Trebujeni, not modern Orhei town. Confirm the exact destination before boarding. A service to the town may still leave a difficult final transfer to the monastery area or guesthouse.
For a day trip, choose the return before beginning the walk. For an overnight, ask the property to explain the final stop, luggage transfer, meals and departure. The village stay is most useful when there is time for an evening and morning rather than a late arrival followed by an early bus.
Build the walking route around weather and daylight
Use the official Orheiul Vechi information for orientation. Paths, viewpoints and religious places require suitable footwear and respectful behaviour. In heat, rain or poor visibility, shorten the exposed route and spend more time in the village or museum areas.
Do not assume wine, monastery and rural activities are one package unless the host states exactly what is included. Ask before entering private courtyards or photographing people.
The onward trip to Soroca is not automatically direct. Verify it locally; if the same-day connection is poor, return to Chișinău or remove Soroca. Add transfers, guesthouse meals and guided activities separately to the daily budget.
