Soroca sits on the Dniester in northern Moldova and is best known for its stone fortress. The road journey from Chișinău makes it a long day, so an overnight can be more comfortable when the current connection works.

Treat Soroca as a long day or an overnight
Soroca is far enough from Chișinău that the road journey shapes the visit. Confirm the departure from North Bus Station and the last practical return. A day trip can work with an early start, but an overnight gives the fortress, riverfront and town streets more room and protects against a poor return.
Stay where the walk to the fortress and the bus stop is clear. A lower room price outside the centre may require taxis that are difficult to arrange after dark. Ask the accommodation for the exact stop and luggage route.
Use the fortress as an anchor, not the entire day
Check current access before travelling. Add the Dniester setting, local streets and one other place at a comfortable pace. The riverside is also a national border; do not treat the opposite bank or an informal path as an ordinary extension of the walk.
Weather can make the exposed areas uncomfortable. Keep a shorter town walk and meal as the fallback. Carry a payment backup without depending on every small purchase accepting cards.
For the return, verify the Soroca departure and Chișinău North Bus Station arrival. Do not place a flight or international train close after the expected road arrival.
