Give the central monuments time rather than making a border stop

Selimiye Mosque, the old streets, bazaars and river areas can fill a full day. Check current visitor access at working religious sites and return later if worship or restoration limits entry. Edirne works better with an overnight stay than as a quick pause on the way to a border.

Stay near the historic centre for walking, but confirm vehicle access and the route from Edirne Otogar. The coach terminal is outside the main visitor area, so a city bus, operator shuttle or taxi may be needed.

Keep border and international rail plans separate

A coach from Istanbul to Edirne is a domestic journey. Continuing to Bulgaria or Greece adds border documents, a different operator and uncertain processing time. Do not assume a city ticket or domestic terminal confirms the international leg.

If using an international train, check the current station, operating day, reservation and border procedure. A historic railway connection is not proof of a convenient passenger service for the chosen date.

Use the central day for local food and slower walks, then leave a generous buffer before crossing a border. Add intercity tickets, taxis from the otogar and any international journey separately to the city budget.
