Türkiye rewards a route built around regions rather than a race across the map. Istanbul, Cappadocia, the Aegean archaeological sites and the Mediterranean coast each need their own travel day. High-speed rail is excellent on selected corridors, while coaches and domestic flights cover many of the longer gaps.

Göreme is a practical base for Cappadocia because valley walks, viewpoints, tours and transfers converge around it. The region is spread across several towns and valleys, so an attraction described as Cappadocia may still need a vehicle or a long exposed walk.
Antalya combines the compact lanes of Kaleiçi with a much larger modern city, beaches and archaeological outings. It works best when the old town, a beach day and a site outside the centre are treated as separate plans.
İzmir gives you a city stay around Konak, Kemeraltı and the Kordon waterfront. Ferries connect another part of the day across the gulf. Ephesus needs a separate journey through Selçuk, with a final transfer from town to the site.
Ankara is a broad modern capital with strong museums, Anıtkabir, the old citadel area and excellent rail links. Ulus and Kızılay serve different parts of the visit, so a useful base depends on the sights and onward station.
Selçuk is the practical small-town base for Ephesus, with its own museum, basilica, mosque and rail station. Ephesus is an exposed archaeological site outside the centre, and the two main gates affect walking and transport plans.
Pamukkale village sits below the travertines and the large archaeological site of Hierapolis. The white terraces are a managed natural site, not a free swimming area, and the ancient city requires more time and walking than the famous viewpoint alone.
Bursa's historic centre brings together the Grand Mosque, covered markets and Koza Han. A central walk and a thermal stay in Çekirge make different trips. Arriving by ferry also needs a road connection from Mudanya, so allow more than the sea-crossing time.
Çanakkale is a compact Dardanelles waterfront city and a base for two very different regional visits: Troy on the Asian side and Gallipoli across the strait. Each needs its own transport, context and return plan.
Fethiye is a transport and service base for the harbour, Ölüdeniz, Kayaköy, the Lycian coast and international ferries. These places are not one walkable resort, so choose the base around the outings that matter most.
Sitting on the border triangle of Turkey, Greece, and Bulgaria, Edirne was the second Ottoman capital. It is home to the Selimiye Mosque, the crowning masterpiece of imperial architect Mimar Sinan, and is famous for its fried liver (tava ciğer).
Trabzon is a Black Sea transport base with a compact central area and widely scattered regional outings. Sümela Monastery, Uzungöl and mountain villages are separate full plans, not short city-bus stops.
