Decide whether the stay is about town, beach or trail
Fethiye's harbour and centre make a practical base for meals, buses and boat departures. Ölüdeniz and other coastal areas require separate local transport and have a different evening feel. A room advertised under the wider Fethiye name may be far from the harbour or otogar, so map the exact address.
Choose one main outing per day. A boat trip, a beach day and a section of the Lycian Way are not interchangeable. For walking, check route difficulty, heat, water, shade and the return. For boats, understand the vessel, stops, included items and weather policy before paying.
Protect the onward connection
Antalya coaches arrive at Fethiye Otogar. Add the transfer to the harbour or coastal accommodation. Ferry services and island journeys use their own port procedures and can be weather-dependent; do not place them immediately after a long road arrival.
In hot conditions, move exposed activity to the cooler part of the day and keep a slower harbour or museum alternative. An inexpensive outer room can lose its value if every beach, dinner and departure needs a taxi.
Add boats, beach transport, trail transfers and ferries separately to the ordinary town budget.

Central Fethiye suits the harbour, bus station and ferry. Ölüdeniz suits beach time but adds travel for town and onward coaches. Check hills, nightlife, beach access and the exact pickup for any activity.
Getting Around
Use current local minibuses for named corridors and confirm the last useful return. Boats, paragliding, Kayaköy and trailheads all need separate operator or route checks.
Eating for Less
At the fish market, confirm the fish price, cooking charge, sides and service before ordering. Bakeries and lokantas away from the marina can be easier for simple meals.
Worth Paying For
A well-run boat day or tandem flight can be memorable when safety, weather and the complete offer are clear. Choose one major activity rather than filling every day with sales-desk excursions.
Skip / Save Your Money
The harbour walk, old-town lanes and a suitable public viewpoint can fill time without a paid tour. Kayaköy and beaches still need transport and current access checks.
