Choose the Bath experience you want

The Roman Baths are a museum and archaeological site. You visit the remains and exhibitions; you do not bathe in the historic pools. If bathing is the reason for your trip, price a separate modern spa session and read its conditions before booking accommodation.

For 1 September to 31 October 2026, the Roman Baths lists adult advance tickets at £26.50 on weekdays and £29 on weekends and bank holidays. Buying on the day adds £2. Use the calendar for a different month rather than assuming this is a year-round tariff.

Build the walk around the slopes

From Bath Spa station, the lower centre and abbey area make an easy starting point. The walk towards the Circus and Royal Crescent climbs away from the river. Take that part at a pace that suits you, and leave a pause before another indoor visit.

The Crescent and Circus can be appreciated from public streets. The museum at No. 1 Royal Crescent is a separate choice; a free exterior walk does not include entry to houses or private gardens. Respect residents' doors and driveways when taking photographs.

Around Pulteney Bridge, enjoy the view from public paths rather than trying to fit every riverside stretch into one outing. High water or local works can affect lower paths, so follow signs on the day.

Arrive at the right place

Bath Spa station is on Dorchester Street, beside the bus station area. London trains use Paddington and commonly take around an hour and twenty minutes. Look at the date's timetable and ticket conditions before attaching a timed museum entry to the arrival.

From Bristol Airport, the A4 Bath Flyer runs via south Bristol, Keynsham and Saltford. It is a direct bus, but it is not a short nonstop airport sprint. Check the full running time and the return departure from Bath.

Make the overnight stay count

An overnight lets you see the central streets outside the busiest visiting hours. Compare the room's location with the places you want to walk to after dinner. A picturesque hillside address can involve more luggage carrying than a station-area room.
