Day 1Settle into the Madrid base

Day 2Toledo day trip, then back to Madrid
MadridTake Avant from Atocha or compare the Plaza Elíptica coach, carrying a light day bag. Include the climb from Toledo station to the historic centre. Choose the cathedral or a smaller interior and leave time for lunch. Return to the Madrid room tonight; there is no Toledo hotel move.

Day 3Choose the art you most want to see
MadridThe Prado and Reina Sofía have different collections and admission rules. Give one a full visit, then add the other only if you still have time and energy. Reina Sofía normally closes on Tuesday. Shift the order of this Madrid stay if your dates put the museum day there.

Day 4Segovia day trip, then back to Madrid
MadridThe fast train leaves Chamartín and arrives at Segovia-Guiomar outside the centre. Include a local bus or taxi, or compare Avanza’s coach from Moncloa. Walk from the aqueduct through the old town and choose an Alcázar ticket; the tower adds 152 spiral steps. Return to Madrid tonight.

Day 5Leave Madrid from the right terminal or station
MadridChoose a café near your departure route and collect your bags with time to spare. Cercanías serves airport T4, so another terminal may need a shuttle or a different city transfer. Read the full railway station name if continuing by train; Atocha and Chamartín are separate stations.

Arrange the nights first
Keep Madrid as the overnight base throughout. Toledo’s Avant uses Atocha, while fast Segovia trains use Chamartín and arrive at Guiomar outside the old town. Price the return journeys and local approaches separately from the everyday city allowance.
Make the main bookings
Choose the timed interior you most want, then place it on a full day with a comfortable approach. Museum admission, a tower, a mountain connection and an airport transfer may be separate products. Read the whole ticket before comparing totals, and leave moving-day evenings flexible.
