Compare the direct departures
Travel from Aarhus H to Aalborg Station. DSB lists InterCityLyn journeys of about 78 minutes and InterCity journeys of roughly 95 minutes. Choose a suitable service rather than basing a timed visit on the fastest possible train.
Buy for Aalborg, not the airport
Aalborg Station is the useful central stop for most city stays. Aalborg Lufthavn is a different station for the airport. Read the destination and arrival stop before paying, particularly when a train continues beyond the city.
Use a low fare only when the timing works
Orange fares start at DKK54, subject to availability. They are tied to the train you choose. If you want to finish a museum visit in Aarhus without watching the clock, allow more time or compare a ticket with more flexibility.
Leave your bags before the waterfront
Settle in and take a central walk rather than adding another long trip immediately. For a Kunsten visit, compare the museum ticket that includes qualifying NT travel with your actual local journeys. That offer does not pay for the DSB intercity journey from Aarhus.
Plan the arrival
The Aarhus guide and Aalborg guide explain the local journeys, places to stay and visits. Add the main travel ticket separately to your daily spending plan. The distance above is a straight-line comparison between the city centres; your train, road or flight route can be longer.
