Aarhus is a good place to slow down after Copenhagen. The station, art museum and old centre fit into a walkable visit, while the harbour gives you space between museums. Two nights let you choose a larger outing without rushing the centre.

A central day and a second-day choice
From Aarhus H, make your first day a loose walk through the centre. Allow time for ARoS, then continue towards the old streets and the waterfront. Put Dokk1 into the plan as a break, particularly with children, rather than another timed attraction to complete.
For the next day, choose between Den Gamle By and a trip to Moesgaard. The former pairs naturally with the Botanical Garden. Moesgaard needs travel time out of the centre and enough time inside to justify the journey. Trying to do both with ARoS in one day turns the visit into a sequence of entrances.
Decide what you want from ARoS
ARoS lists adult admission at DKK200, DKK150 for students and visitors under 31, and free entry for under-18s. The ticket includes the museum's current exhibitions and As Seen Below. Set aside part of a day rather than treating the rooftop panorama as a brief viewpoint stop.
Its opening pattern changes with the season: summer includes Mondays, while the normal winter schedule closes on Mondays. Look at the museum's calendar before building an arrival day around it. The cafe, orangery and shop can be visited without an exhibition ticket.
Arrive at the right airport and stop
Aarhus Airport and Billund Airport are different arrivals. For Aarhus Airport, bus 925X connects with Banegårdspladsen beside the central station. Its schedule follows flights and is only published a few weeks ahead. Check again close to travel; a missing departure months in advance does not mean the bus has stopped running.
From Billund Airport, look for 912X to Aarhus. If you are travelling the other way to visit Billund, remember that the airport stop is not LEGO House or the town centre. The Aarhus–Billund guide explains the onward change.
Keep the food plan flexible
Have a look at the menu before settling into a riverside table. For a lower-cost day, combine a bakery breakfast, a simple lunch and one relaxed dinner. Buying several small dishes at a food hall can cost more than choosing one main meal.
If your room includes breakfast, compare that total with a cheaper room plus breakfast bought separately. The same applies to kitchens: check that you can actually prepare food, rather than assuming every apartment listing provides useful cooking facilities.
Continue without backtracking
Odense is a useful stop on the rail journey from Copenhagen. Aalborg extends the trip north. Pick your onward departure before booking the final museum so you still have time to collect bags and reach the platform. Keep that intercity ticket separate from the daily city allowance.

Getting Around
The central sights are manageable on foot, with buses and Letbanen for longer trips. Search the complete journey in Rejseplanen, then buy the ticket for its zones. Aarhus Airport's 925X is a separate airport journey tied to flight schedules.

Compare takeaway, bakery and sit-down options near the streets you are already visiting. A food hall gives choice but does not guarantee a cheaper meal. Accommodation with breakfast or a usable kitchen may be worth more than a small saving on the nightly rate.
Worth Paying For
ARoS costs DKK200 for adults, with free admission for under-18s. Choose it for the art as well as the rooftop panorama. Den Gamle By suits an interest in everyday history; compare its ticket for your visit date.
Skip / Save Your Money
You can enjoy the Latin Quarter, the waterfront and Dokk1 without filling the day with admission fees. Keep one main museum and let the weather decide the rest. A quick photo at ARoS is not a reason to rush an expensive visit.
Common Tourist Traps & Money Mistakes
Den Gamle By is a paid museum, not the whole historic centre. Moesgaard is outside central Aarhus. Give it its own outing and transport time instead of placing it between two central museum bookings.
