Take a direct regional or intercity train from København H to Roskilde. The journey is about 25–30 minutes on suitable departures. Use the DSB timetable or the current journey planner for the date. Do not confuse Roskilde with Trekroner, a different station.
Check pass coverage before buying another ticket
City Pass Small does not cover Roskilde. City Pass Large covers zones 1–99 and starts at DKK200 for 24 hours. Compare that with the return journey you need, especially if the rest of your Copenhagen day is walkable. Neither pass pays for museum or cathedral entry.
Plan the day around opening times
Roskilde Cathedral is a working church, so services and events can affect visiting hours. Walk to the harbour for the Viking Ship Museum after the cathedral if both fit. Sailing has a separate seasonal calendar and depends on conditions; do not make a winter plan around a summer boat trip.
