Allow around 1 to 1½ hours on a suitable CP urban train and check your return departure. The ordinary adult one-way CP fare is €3.60 from São Bento (eight zones) or €3.35 from Campanhã (seven zones). A new occasional CP card costs €0.50 separately when needed. Use the correct CP ticket and follow its validation rules. Transport to Bom Jesus is separate.
Use these figures to plan. The price for your departure, luggage and ticket type may differ.

Choosing your journey

Use a CP urban train for a straightforward Braga visit, then plan Bom Jesus as a separate local journey. Keep enough time to return from the sanctuary to the station.

Take the Braga service

Check CP for a Braga-bound urban train from São Bento or Campanhã. Allow roughly 1–1½ hours depending on the starting station and departure. Buy the appropriate CP product and validate before boarding; Andante city zones do not automatically cover this day trip.

Start with the centre or the hill

The historic centre and Bom Jesus are separate parts of the visit. If starting at the sanctuary, check the current TUB bus stop and return. The funicular at the lower approach has its own fare: €2.50 one way or €4 return.

Choose a comfortable return

Leave room for lunch and the walk back to the railway station. Do not add Guimarães simply because it looks nearby: the two cities sit on different rail branches. A northern trip with both can work, but it needs a specific bus or connecting-train plan.

Plan the arrival

The Porto guide and Braga guide explain the local journeys, places to stay and visits. Add the main travel ticket separately to your daily spending plan. The distance above is a straight-line comparison between the city centres; your train, road or flight route can be longer.
