A direct InterRegional train to Régua takes about 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours in the published timetable. Choose a direct departure if you want to avoid a change: some Regional journeys use a replacement bus between Marco de Canaveses and Régua. Check your date, fare and return train. Pinhão and transport to an estate are separate onward journeys. |

Use Régua as the first valley base and choose Pinhão only when its extra rail time fits. Book any vineyard transfer before fixing a tasting appointment.

Choose the station, not just the valley
Search CP for Peso da Régua, usually shown as Régua. Allow roughly 2–2½ hours from Porto on a suitable service; Pinhão is farther along, often requiring about another half hour or more. Check whether your chosen departure starts at São Bento or needs Campanhã.
Plan one main activity
The Douro line information records the reopened Marco–Régua section, but the current timetable still matters. Regional services are not a turn-up-and-go metro. Choose the return before booking a vineyard visit, and confirm the transfer from the actual station to the estate.
Separate the excursion prices
A train ticket does not include a boat ride, tasting or lunch. Read the meeting and finish points of any package, especially if the boat ends in another town. For a day trip, one town and one booked visit are a sensible starting point. Amarante is not a stop on this rail line.
