Metro A, then a walk to the correct entrance
From Roma Termini, take Metro A towards Battistini and leave at Ottaviano for the Vatican area. Allow roughly 30–45 minutes including the walk, depending on the entrance and waiting time. This excludes the attraction's security queue.
For St Peter's Basilica, head for St Peter's Square. For the Vatican Museums, use the separate entrance on Viale Vaticano. Save the location on your booking before travelling; a general Vatican map pin can send you to the wrong side.
Use the right urban ticket
A standard ATAC BIT costs €1.50 and lasts 100 minutes from first validation, with one metro journey. A return after leaving the metro gates needs another valid ticket. Validate according to the payment method and keep the same card or device available for inspection.
Check ATAC's current service information for disruptions and accessible travel. If staying elsewhere in Rome, compare the actual journey from your room rather than travelling to Termini just to follow this example.
