Booking a high-speed train in Türkiye
Choose the exact station and departure before buying a YHT ticket. Istanbul stations are far enough apart to change the whole journey plan.
For an Istanbul to Ankara train journey, the first decision is the Istanbul station. Do not choose a ticket using only the city name and leave the station journey until departure day.
The official Ankara to Istanbul YHT page shows different stopping patterns. Not every departure uses every Istanbul station.
Search the whole journey
Use TCDD Taşımacılık for the actual date, station, service and available class. Read the fare shown for that train instead of planning around an old lira amount or euro conversion.
Compare the departure with the time needed to reach that station from the accommodation. A convenient train from Halkalı may not be convenient for someone staying on the Asian side, and the reverse can also be true.
If a date is not available to book, check the operator's current sales window. An unavailable date is not proof that the service is cancelled, while a timetable entry is not proof that seats remain.
Before paying
Check change and refund conditions, passenger details and required identification. Save the ticket where it can be opened without a mobile connection. For a group, confirm seats together before completing separate purchases.
At the station
Arrive with time for ticket and security procedures, then follow the departure display. Pack so you can carry and store luggage without blocking doors or aisles, and check the current operator rule for bulky equipment.
