Taking long-distance buses in Türkiye
Check the exact otogar, seat layout, luggage and arrival transfer before booking a long coach journey.
Türkiye's long-distance coaches connect places that are awkward to reach by rail. The first thing to check is the otogar, or coach terminal, at both ends. A city can have several stops, and the wrong one can add a long local journey.
For Istanbul in particular, read the departure location in full. Do not assume every coach leaves from the same side of the city or that an airport arrival leaves enough time to cross to the terminal.
Compare the complete booking
Search the operator's own website or an authorised seller with the actual date and passengers. Kamil Koç provides booking and ticket management for its network.
Look at the seat layout, stops and journey length as well as the fare. A 2+1 layout describes the arrangement across the aisle; it does not promise a particular vehicle, legroom or service.
Read cancellation and change terms before paying. Keep the booking reference and required identification available, and check that passenger details are correct.
Check luggage and city shuttles
Use the luggage rule for the selected operator. Do not borrow one company's allowance for every coach. Label the main bag and keep money, documents and electronics beside you.
If a local servis shuttle is advertised, ask whether it serves your stop, costs extra and runs for that arrival. It is not automatically a hotel transfer.
Give an overnight arrival a morning plan
Take water, a snack and a light layer. At a rest stop, confirm the stop length and stay close enough to return. Keep documents with you when getting off.
