FlixBus or train in Central Europe?
Compare the full journey, including station transfers, luggage and arrival time, before choosing the cheaper ticket.
A coach ticket can look much cheaper until you add the journey from the bus stop to your room. A train can look faster until you notice two changes. Compare the trip you will actually make, not just the first price and duration on a search page.
Start with the same travel date, passengers and departure window. Open the coach operator and the relevant railway's own booking pages. Check direct trains as well as regional options. A long-distance rail fare bought ahead can sometimes beat a coach, while a regional ticket may offer useful flexibility.
Put the stops on a map
FlixBus can use more than one stop in a city. Its travel information explains how to find the booked stop and follow journey updates. Use the exact address on your ticket, not a search for “main bus station”.
Do the same for the train. A city name in a result may hide a suburban stop or a station across town. Add local fares at both ends, then look at how long the transfers take with luggage.
An arrival after midnight deserves extra attention. Check whether public transport will still run and whether your accommodation accepts late arrivals. An overnight coach also leaves you with a morning to manage before check-in.
Compare more than the seat price

For rail, read the fare conditions. A cheap ticket may be tied to a departure; a regional offer may have time restrictions. Do not assume you can use any train with a similar destination.
