Canals and old streets make much of Bruges enjoyable without a ticket. The Belfry and museums are the decisions to make before you arrive. An overnight stay also gives you an early or late walk when the centre has a different feel from the busy middle of the day.

Use the market that falls on your day
The weekly market list gives two easy food-shopping mornings: Wednesday on the Markt until 2pm, and Saturday around ’t Zand until 1.30pm. These are different from the fish market, which runs Wednesday to Saturday. Choose the market near your route rather than crossing town for a stall that may already have packed up.
A suggested day is a morning market stop, a museum, lunch, then the canals. If you stay overnight, keep some walking for the evening instead of spending the whole daylight visit moving between photo spots.
A museum card is useful for a museum stay
The Musea Brugge Card lasts 72 hours and allows one visit to each included open location. BRUSK joined the offer in 2026, when the price changed. Make a short list of the actual museums you want before deciding; a day of walking and a single tower climb needs a different calculation.
Book any required entry slots through the museum’s own visit pages. The Belfry is a specific tower visit, so allow time for it rather than treating it as a quick stop between two bookings.

Look along the walk between the station, ’t Zand and the centre if you want to arrive on foot. A room a few streets away from the Markt can still suit evenings in the old town. Confirm access before assuming a taxi can stop at the door.
Getting Around
A central stay makes many old-town outings possible on foot. Use a local bus for luggage or a longer walk when it helps; a De Lijn day ticket is worthwhile only if you plan enough rides. It does not cover the train from Brussels.
Eating for Less
Wednesday’s food and flower market is on the Markt, 8am to 2pm. Saturday’s larger market is around ’t Zand, 8am to 1.30pm. Buy lunch in the morning and you can spend the afternoon by the canals without another sit-down meal.

For several museum visits, the Musea Brugge Card gives 72 hours and one entry to each included open location. For just the Belfry or one collection, start with that venue’s own ticket and compare the total.
Skip / Save Your Money
The canals and old streets do not require a sightseeing package. Leave a stretch of the day for an unbooked walk, especially if you already have a timed museum or tower visit.
