Give the old town its own time
Start with the Sea Gate, main squares and smaller lanes, then decide whether to add one museum or church interior. The UNESCO listing covers a wider natural and cultural region, not only the lanes inside the walls.
Plan the walls for conditions
The climb above Kotor has many exposed steps. Check the official local access information, current charge, weather and closing time. Carry water and turn back if heat or footing makes the route unsuitable. A free path on a map is not permission to enter through a wall opening or closed section.
Use the bay without a car
Blue Line lists Kotor and Tivat services and links to ticket sales. For Perast or Dobrota, save the return stop before leaving. A boat trip can add another view of the bay, but confirm the complete route and finish point.
Tivat Airport is close by road, yet there is no reason to assume a bus will meet every flight. The airport road page lists Kotor as 8 km away. Arrange the actual transfer before a late arrival.
