Spend the first night in Vaduz and the second in Malbun. The move gives you an evening in the mountains and avoids a late return to the valley after the second day. It also means taking your bags on the bus. Ask about luggage drop-off before planning a walk that starts before check-in.
If moving rooms feels unnecessary, stay both nights in Vaduz and make Malbun a day trip. In that version, use the return bus on day two and spend day three in the valley or Triesenberg. The day-by-day route below follows the version with one night in each place.
The short version is a village visit with a return Sareis chairlift ride when it is operating. The full Fürstin-Gina-Weg circuit from Malbun needs roughly five hours of walking, before rests and travel. It is a separate choice for suitable weather and walking experience. Read the Malbun mountain guide before committing to it.
For a gentler cultural day, use Triesenberg and its museum instead. Check the museum's midday closure and Saturday morning opening. A stop between hotels works only if you have manageable luggage or have arranged somewhere to leave it. Do not count on storage at a bus stop.
The €540 example is for one traveller and two hotel nights: €150 for one whole room in Vaduz and €160 for one in Malbun. Across three days it also sets aside €120 for food, €30 for local buses, €50 for paid visits and €30 for small extras. These are chosen EUR allowances you can replace, not local price averages or a conversion of published CHF tickets.
For two people sharing those same rooms, the equivalent example is €770 together, or €385 each. Only the €310 room total is shared. Replace the bus allowance if a valid guest pass or travel pass already covers your journeys. Do not add the same local bus rides again as intercity fares.
Travel to and from Liechtenstein, including the Zurich–Sargans train, is additional. No hotel night is included on day three. Compare real accommodation quotes and the LIEmobil tickets before deciding whether this example fits your trip.
Check the bus back from Malbun and the onward train together. Leave the final day light if you have a fixed departure. A spare museum visit is optional; getting to your station calmly is part of the plan.

For one day, keep Vaduz and one museum or the outside castle walk. For two days, choose either an overnight in Malbun or a day trip from the valley; avoid adding the full mountain circuit to an arrival afternoon.
