Choose the overnight arrangement
Blue Star’s port information includes Heraklion services from Piraeus. Allow around 9–10 hours for an overnight sailing as a starting plan, then use the timetable for the actual ship. Price a cabin if you want a bed, and check whether the fare buys a berth or the whole cabin.
Handle an early arrival
Confirm when your Heraklion room accepts check-in and whether it can store bags first. An early ferry arrival does not guarantee an immediately available room. Keep a small overnight bag with medicines and essentials if your larger luggage is stored elsewhere on the ship.
Price the flight fairly
AEGEAN offers the ATH–HER route. The flight is roughly an hour, with airport access, check-in and the city transfer added separately. Compare the full fare with your bags, not a promotional starting price. Heraklion’s urban bus and its intercity coach station serve different purposes; check which one you need after arrival.
