Choosing your journey

Eurostar takes about 1 hour 22 minutes from Brussels Midi/Zuid to Paris Gare du Nord. Compare the slower OUIGO Train Classique and coaches when the fare matters more than the time. For a day trip, choose one main Paris outing and book the return first.

Choose between a short journey and a lower fare

The direct Eurostar from Brussels Midi/Zuid to Paris Gare du Nord takes about 1 hour 22 minutes on the advertised service. Midi and Zuid are the French and Dutch names for the same station. This is usually the easiest starting point when comparing a trip between the two city centres.

Check the actual train on Eurostar's Brussels to Paris page. The short train ride still needs time at each end: getting to Midi, finding the platform and travelling from Gare du Nord to your Paris base.

A slower train may suit your budget

OUIGO Train Classique also offers a Brussels to Paris route. It is a conventional train, so do not confuse it with the faster Eurostar when comparing tickets. Check the journey length and station names on OUIGO's Brussels to Paris page. A lower fare can be a good trade if you have a flexible afternoon; it can be poor value if it cuts a short visit in half.

It is not a full list of every departure or an assurance that the cheapest fare is still available. Compare Eurostar, the slower train and coach prices on the same date, including luggage and local travel at both ends.

Find the right departure point

For Eurostar, go to Brussels Midi/Zuid and look for the Paris departure. Continental boarding does not use the London departure checks. Follow the operator's arrival and boarding instructions, with extra time if you are unfamiliar with the station. Carry the documents required for your journey.

For coaches, read the exact stop on the ticket. Brussels has more than one coach departure point, and being at Midi does not help if your service leaves elsewhere. Check the FlixBus Brussels to Paris route and the full stop address. Traffic can extend the journey, so avoid a fixed Paris booking soon after the advertised arrival.

Make a day trip manageable

A day trip can work, but choose one Paris area and one main activity. A museum, the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre and a long lunch are too much to fit comfortably between trains. Book the return journey before deciding how late to stay out, and leave time to cross the city back to Gare du Nord.

If you can stay overnight, you have more freedom to walk, eat and visit a museum without watching the last train. Compare room prices before committing, since the extra night may matter more than the rail fare. The Paris neighbourhood guide helps narrow down a useful base.

Continue planning

Read the Paris city guide for arrival transport and daily spending, or the France guide for a longer trip. Our Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam itinerary travels in the opposite direction between Paris and Brussels. Search that direction separately for its fare and departure.
