Route overview

Search Heuston to Killarney

Irish Rail offers journeys from Dublin Heuston towards Kerry. Some involve a change at Mallow, while suitable through services avoid it. Allow roughly 3¼–4 hours according to the connection. Follow the complete itinerary rather than boarding any Cork train.

Leave room for the connection

If changing at Mallow, keep the onward service details with your ticket and follow station information for the platform. Do not assume every connection is across the same platform. With a late departure, confirm what happens if disruption affects the last onward train.

Separate town, park and wider Kerry

Killarney station serves the town, not every national-park starting point. A short walk from town is different from reaching Muckross or joining a Ring of Kerry tour. Match the next morning’s pickup to your accommodation, and book a tour only after confirming its starting and finish points.

Plan the arrival

The Dublin guide and Killarney & Ring of Kerry guide explain the local journeys, places to stay and visits. Add the main travel ticket separately to your daily spending plan. The distance above is a straight-line comparison between the city centres; your train, road or flight route can be longer.
