Take the regional train, then choose the right exit
Search Nice-Ville or Nice Riquier to Monaco-Monte-Carlo for the date you need. A suitable direct regional train takes about 25 minutes station to station. The official TER route page lists €6.10 for an ordinary full-fare one-way ticket. Discount cards and group products have their own conditions.
Monaco's station is inside the hillside. Look for the exit that fits your first visit rather than leaving at the first opening. For Monaco-Ville, consider CAM line 2. For Monte-Carlo and Larvotto, check line 5 and the nearest stop.
Buy the train and local journey separately
A Monaco local-bus ticket does not include the regional train. CAM lists €1.50 for a Monapass or contactless single, €2 for an onboard paper ticket and €5.50 for the 24-hour app pass or contactless operating-day cap. Read the current CAM fares before choosing a product.
Check the return departure before setting out, especially if staying for dinner or a major event. Engineering work and crowd controls can alter the day. Leave a useful buffer between arriving back in Nice and a separately booked airport journey.
Keep one Riviera base for the day
Leave your bags in Nice if that is where you are sleeping. An old-town visit, lunch and a harbour or seafront walk can fill the day without changing accommodation. Use the Monaco overview to choose one paid visit and a manageable route through the hills.
If a short-stay visa is relevant, check the wider journey through France before paying. Visiting Monaco does not restart a Schengen stay allowance.
