Choosing your journey
Compare the CP urban train with a reserved faster departure from Campanhã. For a short visit, the canals and centre fit more comfortably than adding the separate Costa Nova journey.

Compare like-for-like rail choices
A CP urban journey can take roughly 1–1½ hours, while a suitable long-distance train from Campanhã can take around 35–50 minutes. Add the trip to Campanhã before treating the faster train as a saving. Use CP for both products on your date; their ticket conditions and prices differ.
Walk towards the canals
Aveiro station and the central canals are not the same stop. Allow the walk after arrival and decide whether a boat ride fits the time available. Read its boarding point and duration before buying. For a stop between cities, confirm luggage storage rather than assuming it is always available.
Keep the coast separate
Costa Nova needs an onward bus or other transfer and a return plan. The current BUGA bike service uses registration and payment; do not plan a free bike based on an older scheme. Leave the coast for a longer outing if you have only a few hours.
