A straightforward move between two city stays

České dráhy's route guide lists fast Prague to Brno trains at about 2 hours 30 minutes. Some slower services take around three hours, so compare the actual departure. A ticket is only a good fit if its time and conditions suit the day you want to have.

A morning departure gives you room to leave your bags in Brno and spend the afternoon in the centre. If you have booked Villa Tugendhat, arrive with a useful margin or put the visit on the following day.

Compare ČD and RegioJet for your date

Search České dráhy and RegioJet, reading the final price, seat choice and change conditions. The companies offer different ticket products. A ticket for one is not automatically valid on the other's train.

Check whether your chosen fare includes a reservation and what happens if you miss the departure. If you are arriving in Prague by air that morning, a more flexible plan or a later train may be worth the extra cost.

Use the main-station names when searching

The usual search is Praha hl.n. to Brno hl.n. These mean the main railway stations. Confirm them on the ticket and check for any changed stopping arrangements on the travel date.

From Brno's main station, the central squares are a useful starting point for a walking stay. If your room is farther out, plan the tram journey before arrival. A long-distance train ticket does not automatically provide a day of Brno city transport.

Keep the first afternoon simple

Leave the large bag at the accommodation if possible, then walk through Zelný trh towards the cathedral area or náměstí Svobody. Fit lunch around how hungry you are when you arrive. A café and one longer walk can be enough after a travel morning.

The Brno guide covers neighbourhood choices, the 24-hour city ticket and booking Villa Tugendhat. You will have more freedom if the first afternoon has one main aim rather than several timed entries.

Continue east, or give Brno another day

Olomouc makes a useful next stop, with its squares and cathedral quarter. Compare direct trains and allow roughly two hours, varying by service. If you only have a short trip, staying in Brno for a second night can be a better use of time than adding another hotel move.
