Prague's castle, Charles Bridge and Old Town are the obvious draws, but Vinohrady and the Vyšehrad parks give you space beyond the busiest streets. Put the castle on its own morning. The right city ticket then depends on how much walking you want between the other stops.

- Compare spring and autumn dates for a walking visit, but check holidays and events before assuming a lower room price. In winter, plan indoor stops and shorter daylight walks.
A walking day and a transport day
On an Old Town day, start at the square, cross Charles Bridge and make time for Kampa. Treat cafés and the riverbank as pauses, rather than adding another timed visit every hour. You can cover this route on foot without a sightseeing bus ticket.
Use a separate day for the castle and the streets of Malá Strana. Book any paid interiors first, then choose your transport ticket around those times. Prague's ordinary city tickets allow transfers within their time limit. A 30-minute ticket covers a journey with changes if all of it fits into those 30 minutes; it is not a charge for each vehicle.
Paper tickets cost 39 CZK for 30 minutes, 50 CZK for 90 minutes and 150 CZK for 24 hours. Stamp an unstamped paper ticket once at the start of travel. For the app, activate it at least one minute before travel. Buying a ticket and leaving it inactive is not enough.
Put a park into the afternoon
Choose Vyšehrad when you want river views and space to sit. There are paths and lookout points around the former fortress. Take water and something to eat, and leave time for the uphill approach. This is a good outdoor alternative when you have already paid for one major attraction that day.
Arrive with the right airport ticket
For the standard public-transport journey, take trolleybus 59 to Nádraží Veleslavín and change to metro A. The airport route uses ordinary city fares; a 90-minute ticket gives more room for the connection than a short ticket. Airport Express to the main railway station uses a separate fare. For a meal in the centre, open the dated restaurant menu before walking there. The daily dishes can differ from the permanent menu, and yesterday's listing is useful for budgeting rather than a promise of today's plate.
Arriving from Germany, read the Berlin to Prague guide before booking. Direct trains can use Praha hlavní nádraží or Praha-Holešovice, and the better arrival depends on the dated service and your accommodation.
Where to Stay
For a first stay, look around Náměstí Míru in Vinohrady if you want metro access and evenings away from Old Town Square. Choose Malá Strana for walks below the castle. With a suitcase or limited mobility, check the final slope and steps to the entrance, not just the district name.
Getting Around
In PID Lítačka, a 30-minute ticket is 36 CZK and a 24-hour ticket is 140 CZK. Two short rides cost 72 CZK; four cost 144 CZK, so the day ticket wins from the fourth separate short journey. Wait through the app’s one-minute activation period before boarding or entering the metro.

A 90-minute adult ticket costs 46 CZK in PID Lítačka or 50 CZK on paper. Activate a mobile ticket and wait until valid before travel; stamp a paper ticket once as instructed.

200 CZKAirport Express runs from Terminal 1 to Prague main railway station. Allow about 45 minutes, depending on traffic. The adult one-way fare is 200 CZK. Regular Prague city tickets do not cover this service; check its departure time before choosing it.

Price for your journeyUber Airport is the airport’s official taxi product. Order in the app, at an airport kiosk or at the service counter; kiosks accept cards. Follow the pickup instructions outside Terminals 1 and 2 and share the supplied PIN with the driver. Check the total and journey estimate for your exact address. The airport warns that intersection works can lengthen peak journeys back to the airport. Use the estimate for your address and time of travel.

Lokál Dlouhá on Dlouhá 33 publishes a changing lunch menu. Compare the soup, main, side and drink separately before ordering. A weekday menu can make a useful planned lunch, but the dishes and total depend on that day’s offer.
Worth Paying For
Choose the main Prague Castle circuit if you want to go inside St Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace, St George’s Basilica and Golden Lane. Keep the visit together in one part of the day instead of crossing back and forth from Old Town.
Skip / Save Your Money
For another wide view, take a walk through the Vyšehrad parks and along the ramparts before paying for a second lookout tower. The basilica, casemates and other interiors have their own admission rules.
Common Tourist Traps & Money Mistakes
Keep the currency terminal on CZK and read a cash machine’s withdrawal fee before confirming. For castle tickets, begin at the castle’s own website so you know which interiors are included. A reseller’s walking tour and an admission ticket are different purchases.
