Timed Transit in the Czech Capital

Prague operates one of the cleanest, most punctual integrated transit networks in the world. Fares are calculated purely on time duration, allowing unlimited transfers between the metro, trams, city buses, and even the Petřín funicular within that window.

Ticket Options and 2026 Pricing

  • 30-Minute Ticket (Short journey): 30 CZK (~€1.25). Valid for quick point-to-point journeys.
  • 90-Minute Ticket (Standard journey): 40 CZK (~€1.70). Ideal for airport transfers (Bus 119 + Metro Line A) or cross-city travel with transfers.
  • 24-Hour Pass: 120 CZK (~€5.00). Pays for itself after three trips in a single day.

The Paper Validation Rule

If buying a physical paper ticket from yellow station machines, you must insert the ticket into the yellow stamping turnstile at the top of metro escalators or inside trams exactly once. Stamping it a second time invalidates the ticket. Plainclothes inspectors check tickets frequently.
