A dated SJ search shows an evening departure from Stockholm Central, an early-morning change at Boden and arrival at Kiruna the following morning. The selected connection takes about fifteen and a half hours. Other results include bus changes and much longer journeys, so use the complete itinerary on your booking.
A sleeper does not continue onto the next train
The overnight train offers seats and sleeping compartments according to availability. The onward InterCity from Boden has seats only. Pack an overnight bag you can reach easily, set an alarm before the change and keep your larger luggage manageable. Compare the full journey price for your party, not just the cheapest seat headline.
Allow for the station transfer
Kiruna station is outside the new centre. Use the free transfer bus or another arranged transfer and check the current departure. Keep arrival-day activities flexible, with food already planned if your room is farther away.
Future trains need their own check
