Choose Central or City correctly
Regional services use Stockholm Central and reach Uppsala Central in roughly 35–50 minutes on suitable departures. SL commuter trains use Stockholm City and take longer. The Uppsala arrival guide explains the alternatives.
Buy for both regions
An ordinary SL ticket is not enough for the whole trip into Uppsala. Buy the correct regional or combined product. Mälartåg uses fixed journey prices rather than a universal early-booking discount.
Keep a day trip relaxed
Leave the bags at your Stockholm accommodation when returning the same day. Uppsala Central is convenient for walking towards the river and cathedral. Check the last useful return before choosing dinner, and do not assume a ticket bought for one operator works on another.
