The ferry leaves outside Stockholm
Destination Gotland sails from Nynäshamn, not a central Stockholm quay. Choose a connecting coach or a rail journey to Nynäshamn and include the final terminal walk. The sea crossing itself is roughly three to three and a half hours depending on the sailing.
Build in the boarding time
Boarding closes 20 minutes before departure. Aim to be at the terminal well before that deadline. Compare the operator-arranged connection with a separate local journey, especially with children or heavy bags. A delay on a separate ticket may leave you needing to rearrange the ferry.
Price the passenger journey
Enter the passengers and date, then select the seat or cabin product you want. A vehicle adds another charge. On arrival, allow for hills and cobbles between Visby harbour and the old town; arrange late check-in before travelling.
Plan the arrival
The Stockholm guide and Visby guide explain the local journeys, places to stay and visits. Add the main travel ticket separately to your daily spending plan. The distance above is a straight-line comparison between the city centres; your train, road or flight route can be longer.
