What is an Andorran Borda?

A borda is a traditional 17th- or 18th-century stone-and-slate agricultural barn once used for storing livestock and grain in winter. Today, many have been converted into atmospheric mountain restaurants.

  • Signature Dish: Escudella, a hearty winter meat stew made with chicken, pork sausage, white beans, and pasta shells.
  • Carbassera: Grilled mountain meats cooked over open wood fires right in the dining room.
  • Value: Multi-course lunch menus with wine cost €16 to €22.
