1. Kalemegdan Fortress: The massive hilltop fortress overlooking the meeting of the Danube and Sava rivers is 100 percent free to enter. The sunset view from the Pobednik (Victor) statue is the finest in the city.
2. Church of Saint Sava: One of the largest Orthodox church buildings in the world. The crypt and main nave are adorned with millions of gold-leaf mosaic tiles and cost nothing to visit.
3. Zemun River Promenade: Take city bus 84 to Zemun, a historic Austro-Hungarian town absorbed into Belgrade. Walk along the Danube waterfront and climb Gardoš Tower (€2) for river views.
