A practical budget for Belgrade
Use Belgrade’s free city transport accurately, price airport and intercity travel separately, and choose nightlife rather than letting it choose the budget.
Belgrade has free city transport, large public spaces and plenty of simple food, but those facts do not make every part of a city break free. Airport minibuses, taxis, intercity trains, museums and a long night by the river belong in separate budget lines.
Build a day from your real room
This example assumes two people share a RSD 8,000 room. It is a planning worksheet, not a current room or restaurant quote.

Replace every amount with your booking and choices. A solo traveller using the whole room adds the other RSD 4,000. Keep airport travel, the Novi Sad train and nightlife outside the example until you choose them.
Use free transport accurately
The City of Belgrade currently provides free ordinary city public transport. Do not buy an old ticket product simply because a stale guide still describes it.
At Belgrade Airport, line 72 is free and runs to Zeleni Venac. The airport lists A1 as a separate minibus to Slavija. Check the current A1 fare and payment method before choosing it.
Free city transport does not include a private taxi, airport transfer, intercity coach or Srbija Voz ticket.
Give Kalemegdan time
Knez Mihailova, Kalemegdan park and the public fortress grounds form an easy first day. Individual museums and interiors can charge separately. Choose one that interests you rather than paying for several quick entries.
Use another day for Vračar or Zemun. Both need transport time even when the ride itself is free.
Decide on the evening before spending it
Skadarlija, bars and river venues offer different kinds of nights. Read the menu, ask about reservations or minimum spend, and set a return plan. “Splav” does not mean one standard price or atmosphere.
For Novi Sad, use the current Soko guide. The train currently uses Petrovaradin and is not part of Belgrade’s free city network.
